Heating & Furnace Services in Northern NJ & NYC
Fast furnace and heater repair, right-sized heating installation, and maintenance that catches problems in October rather than January. When the heat goes out, ICS gets it back on.
Heat Back On โ Fast
Three and a half decades keeping Northern NJ and NYC warm.
Your Furnace Is Speaking to You
Strange sounds, weak heat, a flame that is the wrong colour. A furnace tells you it is in trouble weeks before it quits. Here is what those signals mean and which ones cannot wait.
Reliable Heat When You Need It Most
Northern New Jersey heats with everything. A 1920s two-family in Belleville runs one-pipe steam. A 1960s split-level in Paramus has a gas furnace in an unconditioned attic. A new build in Randolph runs a cold-climate heat pump with electric backup. Each fails differently, and each needs a technician who has seen it before.
ICS repairs, installs and maintains all of them. We have been doing it since 1990, we have completed more than 12,000 installations, and our technicians are NATE-certified across gas, hydronic and heat pump work.
What separates a good heating job from a cheap one is what happens before the equipment is chosen. We measure the heat loss and the duct static pressure first. An oversized furnace short-cycles, wears out its heat exchanger early and leaves the far bedroom cold anyway.
- Furnace, boiler and heat pump repair on every major brand
- Replacements sized on a load calculation, not the old nameplate
- 24/7 emergency heat across Northern NJ and New York City
- Financing available on system replacement
Systems We Service
Our Heating Services
From a no-heat call at two in the morning to a planned replacement in September, every heating job ICS takes on across Northern New Jersey and New York City.
Furnace & Heater Repair
Banging on start-up, a burner that lights and drops out, weak air at the register. We trace the fault to the component rather than swapping parts until it stops.
Heating Installation
Furnace and heat pump replacement sized on a Manual J load calculation, with the existing ductwork measured before the equipment is picked.
Maintenance & Tune-Ups
Combustion analysis, heat exchanger inspection, static pressure and a filter that actually fits. Booked in autumn, before the first cold week.
Boiler Service
Steam and hot water. Wet steam, short-cycling on pressure, a radiator that never gets hot โ usually venting or near-boiler piping, not the boiler.
Heat Pumps & Electrification
Cold-climate heat pump installation from a certified contractor, including the dual-fuel setups that make sense on an existing gas furnace.
Ductless Heating
Mitsubishi Electric mini-splits, wall units and ceiling cassettes, for additions, attic conversions and older houses with no ductwork to work with.
Heat Done Right the First Time
Improving comfort while reducing operating cost. That is the whole job, and it is why we measure before we quote.
24/7 Emergency
Lose heat at 2am and someone answers. Round-the-clock response so a January failure is a bad night, not a bad week.
All Brands
NATE-certified technicians who service every make and model of furnace, boiler and heat pump, whoever installed it.
We Measure First
Load calculation, static pressure, combustion analysis. Numbers decide the equipment, not the size of the box that came out.
Financing Available
Replacement rarely happens at a convenient moment. Financing keeps a failed system from becoming a worse decision.
From No Heat to Comfort
Call or Book
Reach us any hour at (866) 749-6331, or book online. No-heat calls are triaged ahead of scheduled work.
Diagnose
A technician tests the system running: gas pressure, temperature rise, static pressure. You see the readings, not just the conclusion.
Repair or Replace
Options laid out side by side with what each one fixes and what it does not. Nothing proceeds until you approve it.
Verify & Maintain
The system is re-tested before we leave, and a maintenance plan keeps the readings on record year to year.

Heating FAQs
How much does a new furnace cost in NJ?
It depends on four things: the heat loss of the house, the condition and size of the existing ductwork, the efficiency tier you choose, and how hard the equipment is to get in and out. A tight attic install with undersized returns costs more than a basement swap with good ducts, for the same furnace. We measure all four and give you an itemised quote before anything is ordered, with financing available.
How long does a furnace last?
Fifteen to twenty years for a gas furnace that was sized correctly and serviced annually. Boilers often go longer. Heat pumps run twelve to fifteen. What shortens all three is the same thing: an oversized system short-cycling against restricted ductwork. That is why the sizing conversation matters more than the brand.
What are the signs my furnace needs repair?
Banging on start-up, a squeal from the blower, a yellow or lazy burner flame instead of crisp blue, heat that arrives weak or uneven, the system starting and stopping every few minutes, or any burning smell after the first week of the season. Short-cycling and a yellow flame both need looking at promptly โ one wears out the heat exchanger, the other is a combustion problem.
Should I repair or replace my heating system?
Age and the nature of the fault, in that order. Under twelve years with a failed igniter or capacitor: repair, easily. Over fifteen with a cracked heat exchanger or a failed compressor: replacing is usually the better money, and it is the right moment to fix whatever the ductwork has been doing wrong for two decades. We give you both numbers and say which one we would pick.
Why is my furnace blowing cold air?
Most often the burners are not staying lit and the blower is running out the residual heat, which points at the flame sensor, the igniter or a pressure switch tripping on a blocked flue or intake. It can also be a thermostat set to fan on rather than auto, which is worth checking before you call. If the flue or intake is blocked, do not keep resetting it.
How often should I service my heating system?
Once a year, in autumn, before the season starts. Annual service keeps the combustion side safe, keeps the manufacturer’s parts coverage intact, and catches the failures that otherwise show up on the coldest night when everyone is calling at once. Our maintenance plan holders get scheduled first.
Do you install heat pumps, and are they worth it here?
Yes, and ICS is cold-climate heat pump certified. A modern cold-climate unit holds useful capacity well below freezing, which is the whole question in New Jersey. It heats and cools from one system and may qualify for state and utility incentive programs. Where the house has an existing gas furnace in good shape, a dual-fuel setup often makes more sense than a full swap.
What heating systems do you service?
Gas and electric furnaces, steam and hot water boilers, heat pumps, ductless mini-splits and rooftop units, residential and commercial, across Northern New Jersey and New York City. If it makes heat and it is in our footprint, we work on it.
Heating Service Areas
