Build a Career in Comfort
HVAC jobs in NJ that are not going anywhere โ nobody offshores a boiler room. If you can think through a system, keep your hands steady on a torch and talk straight to a customer, there is a bench for you here.
A Trade That Keeps Paying
Equipment gets more complicated every year and the people who understand it get scarcer.
The Trades Are Facing a Massive Shortage
A generation of technicians is retiring and the schools stopped sending replacements. That is a problem for the country and an opening for anyone willing to learn a skill that cannot be done from a laptop.
HVAC Jobs in NJ, From Helper to Lead
A career here starts on a truck or on the shop floor and goes as far as you push it. Helpers carry, fetch and watch, and the good ones start diagnosing out loud within a year. Service technicians run their own calls. Lead installers run a crew. Fabricators run a coil line and a brake.
New Jersey regulates this trade, and the path through it is worth knowing before you start. Field experience and schooling count toward sitting for a state HVACR licence, and holding one changes what you are allowed to sign off. We work under NJ Master HVACR licensure and our technicians hold NATE certification, so the standard you are trained to is the standard the exams test.
What we look for first is not experience. It is whether you show up, whether you can be left in somebody’s home, and whether you get curious when a system does something that does not make sense.
- Service, install crews and the fabrication shop
- Dispatched from Carlstadt, Belleville or Englewood Cliffs
- Ductless, heat pump and controls training on live jobs
- A clean driving record and a willingness to take an on-call week
What the Work Is Really Like
Where People Fit at ICS
We are usually looking in several of these at once. Write to us even when nothing is posted.
Residential Service Technician
Furnaces, boilers, split systems and heat pumps in houses built anywhere between 1900 and last year. You own the call from arrival to the explanation at the end.
Installation Crew
Changeouts, whole-home replacements and ductless. Transitions that actually fit, and a basement left tidier than you found it.
Sheet Metal Fabricator
Carlstadt shop. Coil line, brake, Pittsburgh lock, plasma table. Turning a drawing into duct that goes together the first time on site.
Commercial Service Technician
Rooftop units, chillers, cooling towers and steam plant. Manhattan and North Jersey buildings, planned maintenance and the calls in between.
Controls & Automation
Sensors, sequences of operation and the graphics that make a plant legible. Part electrician, part programmer, part detective.
Dispatch & Office
Scheduling, permits, parts and the calls at seven in the morning. The job that decides whether everybody else’s day works.
How Hiring Works Here
Write to Us
Send a rรฉsumรฉ or use the form below. Tell us what equipment you have had your hands on โ a short honest list beats a long vague one.
A Conversation
A phone call, then a sit-down at the office nearest you. Bring questions. Better answered now than discovered in February.
A Day in the Field
Where it makes sense you spend time with a lead technician or in the shop, so both sides see the work rather than describing it.
Start and Keep Learning
You are paired with someone experienced, and licensing progress is planned with you rather than left to your own time.
Ready to Get Your Hands on Real Equipment?
Send your rรฉsumรฉ even if nothing is advertised. Good people get hired here before a posting goes up.
Careers FAQs
What HVAC jobs in NJ does ICS hire for?
Service technicians, installation crews, sheet metal fabricators for the Carlstadt shop, controls technicians, and dispatch and office roles. Openings move with the season, so write to us and tell us what you do.
Can I get an HVAC job with no experience?
Yes, as a helper. You carry equipment, pull wire, clean up and watch closely, and if you ask good questions you get handed tools quickly. What we cannot teach is turning up on time and being someone a customer is comfortable having in the house.
Do I need a licence to work in HVAC in New Jersey?
Not to start. You work under a licensed contractor while building the field experience and schooling that let you sit for a state HVACR licence later. Refrigerant handling certification comes earlier and is separate. Ask about the sequence at the interview.
Where would I be working from?
One of three offices. Carlstadt holds the fabrication shop and covers Bergen, Hudson, Passaic and New York City. Belleville covers Essex, Union and Morris. Englewood Cliffs covers eastern Bergen and the bridge corridor. We keep people on the side of the region they live on.
What are the hours, honestly?
Normal days most of the year, long ones in the first cold week and the first heatwave. We run 24/7 emergency service, so field staff take turns on an on-call rotation rather than one person absorbing every night.
How do I apply?
Email a rรฉsumรฉ to mail@icshvac.com with Careers in the subject, or use the form below and say which role interests you. A real person reads them.

When an AC system needs repairs more often, another fix isnโt always the best long-term choice. Looking at the systemโs overall condition and performance can help you decide whether repairing or replacing makes more sense for your home.
Not sure which option is right? ICS can help you make an informed decision.

A new AC system can help lower energy use when itโs properly sized, installed, and maintained. Upgrading from an older, less efficient unit may also improve comfort and help your system run more efficiently during hot weather.
Thinking about replacing your AC? ICS can help you find the right fit for your home.

Leaky ductwork can waste conditioned air before it ever reaches your rooms. Proper duct sealing helps improve airflow, reduce energy loss, and create more consistent temperatures throughout your home.
